Small businesses urged to improve product packaging to attract buyers - kenyadetails

Industrialisation Secretary at the Ministry of Industrialisation and Enterprise Development, Julius Korir noted that the enterprises use poor packaging technologies and methods, which do not give a good impression of the products in the markets.

“Packaging largely shapes the perception of consumers of the products and for Kenya to improve the appeal of its goods in the market, it must adopt the best international packaging practices,” he explained. Mr Korir said that the purchasing decision of products is largely a function of packaging of the product and with the poor methods used in the local markets, their market penetration remains dismal. “If the packaging is good, customers are willing to pay more for the goods and this is what we want to promote in the country to uplift the competitiveness of Kenyan goods,” he said ahead of the East Afripack, slated for September 9 to 12. Â Korir pointed out that good packaging is critical in preserving and maintaining the quality of products in any market.
