P&G building $174M plant in South Africa - kenyadetails

Procter & Gamble Co. is spending $174 million to build a South African plant, creating more than 500 jobs there, the Cincinnati Business Courier reports, citing Johannesburg's Business Day newspaper.
Construction on the manufacturing hub is expected to begin in 2014, with production starting in 2016 or early 2017.

Cincinnati-based P&G (NYSE: PG) has not picked a specific location.
“Our global strategy is to maintain our strong momentum in developing markets,” Dimitri Panayotopoulos, vice chairman for P&G's global business units said, according to Business Day. “Africa in general and South Africa in particular – as the largest African economy – are thus of key importance to us.”

The consumer-goods giant in 2009 built a $54 million Pampers diapers manufacturing plant in Johannesburg.
