Kenya: Nzoia Officer to Upgrade Hospitals - kenyadetails

TRANS Nzoia chief health officer Maurice Wakwabubi has said he will help to equip subdistrict hospitals in the county. He said if the hospitals are well-equipped Kitale District Hospital will be decongested.

"Some 49 per cent of patients admitted at the Kitale District Hospital suffer from malaria. If we strengthen our sub district hospitals, then the district hospital will be used for other serious diseases and operations," Wakwabubi said.

Speaking in Kitale yesterday, Wakwabubi said he will help turn the district hospital into a county referral hospital. The Trans Nzoia county government has allocated Sh40 million for the equipping, reconstruction and automation of various subdistrict hospitals in the county.

The health docket has been allocated Sh454.7 million out of a Sh2.6 billion budget proposal for development in the 2014-15 financial year.
