FG Begins Work On N9 Billion Nenwe Power Sub-Station - kenyadetails

Nenwe – Work on the Federal Government’s N9 billion mega power sub-station at Nenwe Aniri Local Government Area and line bays at Ugwuaji, Enugu State, has commenced.

Contract for 132/33 KV sub-station was awarded to Metroelectric Company two years ago.

During a hand over at the project site, traditional ruler of Emudo Autonomous Community, Igwe Goddy Orji, expressed gratitude to the federal government for citing the multi-billion Naira power sub-station project in his community.

The traditional ruler assured Metroelectric Company of adequate security of both life and property till the completion of the project, explaining that the project would bring other developments to the community.

He pleaded that funds be made available to ensure prompt completion of the power sub-station.

Chairman, Aninri Local Government Area, Mr. Chris Nwobodo, expressed gratitude for the choice of Nenwe for the sub-station.

He expressed confidence that the project would be completed at the stipulated time.

Nwobodo noted that the road to the project site had been in deplorable condition for several years and expressed concern that the sub-station would open up channels for immediate rehabilitation of the road to enable the contractor move equipment to site without hindrance.

Engr. Joseph Lawrence Genesis, who represented the Power Holding and Transmission Companies of Nigeria on the occasion, said the Federal Government was committed to delivering the project as soon as possible to meet up with President Goodluck Jonathan’s promise of steady power supply in the country.

He appealed to the community to cooperate with the company for speedy construction and completion of the power sub-station, noting that every essential issues for smooth commencement of the project had been taken care of.

In his speech after being handed over of the project site, chairman, Metroelectric Company Nigeria, Engr. Ike Uwakwe, pleaded with the community and Enugu State generally for adequate security of their equipment, assuring that he would deliver the project on scheduled, provided funds were made available.
