Kenya has once again emerged as a favourite destination in developing new hotel projects in Africa.

It was ranked highly alongside neighbouring Tanzania, Nigeria, Angola and Botswana.

According to a report by Top Hotel projects, the provider of global

b2b hotel data, the country’s growing tourism ensues more upswings.

Leading international hotel brand, The Kempiski is reading to set foot in Kenya. The hotel chain is gearing to commission Villa Rose, a luxury hotel in Nairobi later this month.

The report further states the new developments are keen on attracting young people —the main target group for comfort,  luxury and modern gastronomy.

Commenting on the report, Kenya Coast Tourist Association (KCTA) Executive officer, Millicent Odhiambo said positive aspects on destination Kenya and the relative calm the country has continued to enjoy should be jealously guarded by all.

“We however hope that the central government can spruce up tourism marketing by ensuring that the Kenya Tourism Board is adequately funded to help it market Kenya to the rest of the travel world,’’ Odhiambo said.

Also increased export of crude oil and minerals from countries such as Nigeria and Angola ensures the economic growth  as well as more hotel overnight stays.

Further, three new hotel projects by Kempinski are currently being put up in Agadir (Morocco), Accra (Ghana) and in Cairo (Egypt).

Hotels, Hilton and Marriott are leading in the race for the best destinations and locations.
