New Medical Equipment Taken to Mpeketoni Hospital - kenyadetails

MEDICAL equipment worth Sh11 million was yesterday delivered at the Mpeketoni District Hospital.

The facilities which the county government was planning to buy three months ago arrived earlier than expected to help with the emergency cases at the facility after the Sunday night attack.

The equipment includes oxygen concentrators, operating theatre lamps, sterilisers and general theatre equipment.

More than 60 people were killed during the attack.

Addressing residents yesterday after the arrival of the equipment, Lamu Health Executive Mohamed Kombo said the facilities will improve service delivery to patients at the hospital.

He said the county government is doing all it can to improve healthcare for residents.

Kombo said plans to improve the Lamu District Hospital to the level of a general hospital are underway.

He said the Mpeketoni facility still has shortage of doctors and other staff.

Kombo said the recent attack made several doctors at the hospital flee for their safety.
