Busy oil exploration year places Kenya above neighbours

Kenya has become the hottest oil and gas venue in East Africa since big discoveries were made in the country’s virgin oilfields last April. All eyes are on Kenya in 2013 to see how quickly and economically they can develop those discoveries into production.

Nairobi-based Taipan Resources Inc is the fourth largest acreage owner in Kenya, and is getting ready to carry out seismic on Block 2B.

Kenya’s Vision 2030 to support East African Power Industry Convention

The annual East African Power Industry Convention (EAPIC) has secured the support of Kenya’s Vision 2030.  The organisers of EAPIC, the Cape Town-based events company Spintelligent, met with the Vision 2030 directorate in Nairobi recently.

Kenya: World Bank Predicts 4.9 Percent Growth

The World Bank predicts that Kenya’s economic growth will remain moderate in the face of a flat global growth prospect.

In its global economic prospects released last week, the World Bank forecasts that Kenya’s GDP will peak at 4.9 per cent this year, way below its peers in the sub-Saharan Africa region.

Africa Oil/Tullow Oil’s East Africa Drilling

The aggressive drilling program undertaken by Africa Oil Corp. and Tullow Oil in Kenya is expected to continue in the coming months. The drilling program has already resulted in two significant discoveries for the partners.

Tullow and Africa Oil currently have three rigs active in East Africa.

Africa Oil reported that the testing program on the Twiga discovery in Kenya’s Block 13T is currently underway with final results expected to be announced in early-February.
