140MW geothermal power plant in Kenya to be constructed
Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has plans to construct 140MW geothermal power plant in Kenya before the end of 2016.
Abel Rotich, KenGen Geothermal Development Director, said that his organization has already secured funding to the tune of US$300m for the construction of the geothermal power plant in Kenya.

US construction firm shows interest in funding Kenya’s Six-Lane highway
Construction of Kenya’s six-lane highway moved a notch higher after Kenyan and US government and a California-based construction and engineering firm Bechtel held a successful meeting.
Head of the US government’s Overseas Private Investment Corporation (Opic) Elizabeth Littlefield and Bechel signed what they called a letter of interest regarding Kenya’s Six-Lane highway that is Nairobi-Mombasa highway project on the sidelines of the US-Africa Business Forum in New York early this week.
AFRICA'S MOST DYNAMIC BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION EXHIBITIONS
BUILDEXPO Africa is the only show with the widest range of the latest technology in construction machinery, building material machines, mining, construction vehicles and construction equipment. Earlier this month Expogroup announced the launch of BUILDEXPO in Rwanda and Ethiopia on the occasion of their 20th anniversary in Africa. The events are scheduled for May 2017 in Ethiopia and July 2017 in Rwanda. Expogroup says that the first event in Rwanda and Ethiopia are expected to attract over 150+ exhibitors from over 27 countries. The expo will have a focus across the construction equipment, building materials machinery and mining equipment sectors. Visitors are expected to be drawn from neighboring African countries.
Kenya banks on underground power network to end interruptions
In a bid to end frequent power cuts, utility firm Kenya Power is in the process of implementing a Sh13bn underground power network project in Nairobi. The cabling project is expected to reinforce the Nairobi City Centre bulk power supply system by providing alternative supply to the existing substations.
