Kenya: Kibos Sugar to Generate Own Power
Kibos Sugar company plans to diversify its products to include ethanol, paper, and electricity, according to its chairman Sukwinder Chathe.
He said they plan to invest more than Sh4.8 billion to undertake the diversification programme. The projects will begin next year. “We have agreed with a financier who will do all this, for us, †he said in Kisumu.
Kenya: Sh1 Billion Project to Increase Water Supply in Eldoret
The World Bank is to spent more than Sh1 billion to expand water supply programmes in Eldoret and its environs.
Eldoret Mayor William Rono says the Chebara Water Dam in Marakwet which supplies water to the town will be expanded through the World Bank funded initiative.
“Eldoret is a major investment herb and we want to put in place adequate water supply so that residents and investors feel comfortableâ€Â, he said
Kenyan Gospel Star Launches Mobile Service Provider
Tomorrow, Gospel singer SK Blue will launch an SMS service for his company, Sakata Media. Dubbed Sakata Mobi, it is working as a premium rate service provider that provides recorded information for subscribers of a network or live conversation for callers.
These services will be channelled through SMS short codes or special numbers leased by network operators to PRS providers.They can also be used for short-term promotions or campaigns.
Kenya Power to Upgrade Pre-Paid Billing
Kenya Power has announced plans to upgrade its pre-paid billing system to reduce the continued technical hitches experienced by consumers.
Most of the customers have complained of occasional failure even after loading credit into the pre-paid meters, while others have often complained of being unable to load credits onto the meter.

Co-Operative Bank Signs Sh5 Billion Deal to Boost SMEs
Cooperative Bank has signed a Sh5.1 billion ($61 million) loan agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to increase its credit to Small and Medium Enterprises in the country.
The bank’s Managing Director Gideon Muriuki said the loan which has a tenure of seven years will also be used to support agriculture projects.
