Kenya: Government Set to Build Fertiliser Factory

Plans of constructing a fertilizer plant by the government are on high gear, Agriculture Assistant minister Kareke Mbiuki has said. Mbiuki said soon farmers will start benefiting from cheaply priced fertilizer after the government implements the plan of building the fertilizer factory. He lamented that high prices of farm inputs including artificial fertilizer have been a big drawback to farmers in producing high quality and adequate produce to feed the nation and also for export.

Coffee prices slump for third week

Kenya’s coffee prices slumped for a third week in a row in what marketing agents say is a correction of last year’s high prices, which were witnessed in the international market.

In the last three trading sessions held on April 24, May 2 and May 15, the price of the top grade coffee of grade AA fell by 10.18 per cent.
