KenGen plans a 400MW wind farm in Meru

Power generator KenGen is to build a 400-megawatt wind power plant in Meru beginning next year.
The first phase of the project that will generate 100 megawatts (MW) will cost $270 million (Sh26.5 billion) and is to be completed before the end of 2017.
Two financiers, French Development Agency (AfD) and German Development Bank (KfW), are in the country conducting due diligence on the project before committing financial support.
Devki opens Sh7bn roofing sheets plant

Devki Group Wednesday opened a Sh7 billion factory in Ruiru, Kiambu County that will be producing 300,000 tonnes of iron sheets every year.
The new plant, under the group’s affiliate, Maisha Mabati Mills Ltd, is the biggest in Africa.
It produces roofing sheets coated with aluminium and zinc, giving them longer life using technology borrowed from Japan, USA, Australia and India.
Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed, while inaugurating the mill, said the new venture had a capacity to more than double the country’s current annual production of 250,000 tonnes.

India's largest utility and tractor producer, Mahindra and Mahindra, has set up an Africa-focused business unit as it looks to maintain double-digit growth levels in the continent, the company said on Tuesday.
With an active presence in 20 African countries, Mahindra and Mahindra hopes the aggressive expansion will help spur a 10-fold increase in business over the next five to seven years.
